Hi, my name is ____ and I’m calling from (City, State).
I urge you to co-sponsor HR 2176, the Return to Prudent Banking Act.
Without strong rules on Wall Street, we are gambling with the fate of our economy and putting Americans once again at risk of another financial crash. Please act now to stop that from happening. Thank you for your time.
Without strong rules on Wall Street, Americans suffer.
We know this because for six decades, we had an effective law, Glass-Steagall, that kept banks from becoming “too big to fail” and gambling with the fate of our economy.
Between 1933 and 1999, Glass-Steagall protected ordinary Americans from Wall Street greed. After its repeal, the financial system collapsed in 2008 with devastating effects.
Rep. Marcy Kaptur’s (D-Ohio) new bill, the Return to Prudent Banking Act, would restore Glass-Steagall to protect Main Street from another financial crash. It would break up banks that are “too big to fail.”
We need to do everything we can to ensure this bill passes.
