Chubb needs to urgently scale up its ambition and translate climate rhetoric to climate action. Climate scientists and the International Energy Agency have made it clear: no new fossil fuel infrastructure can be built and existing infrastructure must be phased out rapidly to limit warming to 1.5ºC. Put simply, that means that the insurance industry must immediately stop insuring new fossil fuel projects.<br><br>Among global insurers, Chubb is lagging behind peers due to underwriting of and investments in fossil fuel expansion and nonexistent policies on human rights. While large European and Australian insurers have begun taking ambitious steps to rein in insurance support for fossil fuels, the U.S. insurance sector continues to undermine global efforts to address climate change.<br><br>As the leader of a major insurance corporation, you have a responsibility to transition to a clean energy economy that prioritizes the health and safety of communities. We call on Chubb to immediately stop underwriting new fossil fuel projects, phase out all fossil fuel underwriting and investing in line with a 1.5ºC pathway, and respect human rights.
