Companion bills — House Bill 2269 by state Rep. Brooks Landgraf and Senate Bill 1021 by state Sen. Kel Seliger — would expand the Waste Control Specialists radioactive waste dump in west Texas and eliminate the fee that the company pays to the state.
Allowing more radioactive waste to be imported to Texas, while eliminating a source of cleanup money in the event of a future radioactive waste disaster, is a bad deal for Texans.
