It has been over two and a half years since the San Antonio Climate Action and Adaptation Plan was adopted and there is still no plan to get the city’s own electric utility to stop burning coal. CPS Energy doesn’t seem to get that the climate crisis is actually a crisis – meaning we need to act now, not in a few decades.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg also serves on the CPS Energy board of trustees, putting him in a unique position to get a plan in place to shut down the Spruce coal plant.
Email Mayor Nirenberg now.

Thank you for emailing Mayor Nirenberg to ask him to lead on climate action by setting a retirement date for San Antonio's Spruce coal plant by 2030. We need your help to build pressure for him to act. If you'd like to get more involved, please email Public Citizen's climate justice organizer, DeeDee Belmares at firstname.lastname@example.org.
