Amazon shareholders have the opportunity to force the company to be more transparent at next week’s shareholder meeting.
But they’re up against one of the largest corporations in the world, and they need to know that they have your support!
Sign our petition to tell shareholders: Make Amazon disclose its tax avoidance schemes and climate lobbying spending.
(Remember: Amazon’s shareholder meeting is May 24. If you’re a shareholder, vote in favor of Proposal #11: Tax Transparency and Proposal #12: Additional Reporting on Lobbying.)
At the May 24 Amazon shareholders meeting, I urge all Amazon shareholders to vote in favor of Shareholder Proposal #11: Tax Transparency and Shareholder Proposal #12: Additional Reporting on Lobbying.
These resolutions will 1) require Amazon to make public the taxes it pays in every country around the world, as well as the revenues, profits, and key metrics of operation for Amazon in every jurisdiction that it books income and 2) make its climate lobbying expenditures transparent.
Such information will enable shareholders and the public at large to identify the extent to which Amazon shifts profits offshore from America in order to avoid paying its fair share of taxes, as well as how it lobbies on issues related to climate change.
