Amazon shareholders have the opportunity to force the company to be more transparent at next week’s shareholder meeting.
But they’re up against one of the largest corporations in the world, and they need to know that they have your support!
Sign our petition to tell shareholders: Make Amazon disclose its tax avoidance schemes and climate lobbying spending.
(Remember: Amazon’s shareholder meeting is May 24. If you’re a shareholder, vote in favor of Proposal #11: Tax Transparency and Proposal #12: Additional Reporting on Lobbying.)
At the May 24 Amazon shareholders meeting, I urge all Amazon shareholders to vote in favor of Shareholder Proposal #11: Tax Transparency and Shareholder Proposal #12: Additional Reporting on Lobbying.
These resolutions will 1) require Amazon to make public the taxes it pays in every country around the world, as well as the revenues, profits, and key metrics of operation for Amazon in every jurisdiction that it books income and 2) make its climate lobbying expenditures transparent.
Such information will enable shareholders and the public at large to identify the extent to which Amazon shifts profits offshore from America in order to avoid paying its fair share of taxes, as well as how it lobbies on issues related to climate change.
We're looking for Exxon, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips shareholders who'd like to get more involved in our campaign. If you're a shareholder who wants to do more to expose these companies, let us know:
(If you own shares in these companies directly, we encourage you to )
We're also putting pressure on Vanguard, State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), and BlackRock — three investment management companies with large investments in these big oil companies.
If you have retirement investments through Vanguard, SSgA, or BlackRock that include Exxon, Chevron, or ConocoPhillips stock, add your name to our petition to tell these companies to use their power to push for transparency:
