The City of Austin presents an image of being green, but we can't be a sustainable city if our electric utility burns coal.
Our city still runs on dirty coal thanks to a broken promise to stop by retiring its portion of the Fayette Power Project.
Join us in urging the Austin City Council to do its job as Austin Energy’s governing body and hold the utility accountable for meeting this critical, necessary part of the city’s climate goals.

There will be a final public hearing at City Hall on Thursday, December 1 at 4 p.m. to allow Council to hear directly from Austinites on this proposal. This will be our best chance to demonstrate that the people of Austin are not ok with massive rate increases for residential customers.
Members of the public will be allowed to speak remotely or in person at the council meeting. You can register online anytime between now and noon on Wednesday, November 30. Or you can register in person at City Hall until 9:15 on Thursday, December 1. All of the information about registering and speaking is here.
