D.C. Fair Elections is a small donor matching program that amplifies the voices of everyday District residents and curbs the influence of big money in our elections.
Candidates that participate in the voluntary program agree to only accept small donations, which are matched $5:1, and forgo all corporate and PAC money.
By elevating the voices of everyday District residents, the DC Fair Elections Program could help restore both racial equity as well as people’s faith in democracy, but only if lots of candidates use the program.
On March 20, Mayor Bowser released her budget proposal for the 2020 fiscal year, which included $3.2 million allocated for the Fair Elections Program -- a great first step in getting this crucial program off of the ground.
However, this particular call to action doesn't target leaders representing your district. Don't despair, there are many other ways you can support us!
