AIG is one of the world’s biggest insurers of oil and gas. The insurance giant backs devastating oil and gas expansion that is harming frontline communities and accelerating the climate crisis. Without insurance, these planet-wrecking industries can’t survive.

While dozens of other insurers are pulling out of fossil fuels, AIG has been lagging behind and only taking half-measures.

Message:

A planet that warms more than 1.5°C is simply uninsurable. So why is AIG still recklessly backing fossil fuels and driving climate chaos? AIG’s support of the oil and gas industry's expansion is unacceptable. The urgency of the climate crisis demands that AIG end insurance coverage and investments in new fossil fuel projects immediately, and rapidly phase out all coverage of fossil fuels. While AIG's existing climate policies are an improvement, the risks of climate chaos are escalating, threats to the health and land rights of communities are intensifying, and slow progress is not good enough. AIG needs to rule out support for harmful oil and gas expansion projects around the world, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline and Ichthys LNG in Australia. AIG must act immediately to protect our communities — now and in the future. Stop fueling the climate crisis and Indigenous rights abuses. Drop coverage of fossil fuel expansion and protect human rights now. Thanks for your time.
